IFTA Conference

Day 1

The conference started with a warm welcome opening and a walkabout session where guests along with the speakers were distributed amongst the conference tables to get to know each other and discuss various issues concerning Technical analysis, each table was lead by one of the speakers and the guests rotated among the different tables and speakers. Different topics were discussed such as economical globalization, commodities, trading techniques and indicators usage, derivatives products ( options, ETFs ) and finally how do you see your society and what in your opinion can be done to more serve and satisfy your needs. Later on Ian Notely gave a tribute to Late John Brooks in his memoriam, there was still sadness, but it is a wistful sadness that is tempered by the happy memories that we still possess about one of the pioneers of Technical analysis; we will really miss you John Brooks.

After the lunch, the real action got started with Martin Pring, where his topic was “Executing Profitable Sector Rotation Strategies by Applying Technical Analysis to Economic Indicators”,

Mr.Pring presentation was widely appreciated by the guests, he was kind enough to offer some of his educational CDs to few of the guests.

Later that day, John Person discussed the necessity of "Building & Using a Rule Based Trading System".He discussed a new short technique based on Doji candlesticks.The 1st day ended with the Japanese hour in which Akira Homma talked about STATISTICAL INVESTIGATION ON “REVERSAL DATE PROJECTION and Hiroshi Okamoto presented a study on candlesticks, Masayuki Ito discussed the Application of technical method to group of stocks divided into quantiles, And finally Shigetoshi Haneda talked about a simple study of candlesticks formation

The day ended with a free invitation from ESTA to all the attendees for a marvelous desert dinner in the middle of the red sea mountains in the magnificent Sharm El Sheikh. Everyone enjoyed the desert night with the dazzling fire shows and it was really a night to remember. 


Day 2

That was the Leisure day, when ESTA invited all the conference attendees for snorkeling and diving in the breathtaking water of the fabulous red sea.The program included Boat trip to Ras Mohamed, lunch in the boat, offering diving equipment for a 45 min dive.

Day 3

That was definitely the main course, where the worlds most famous pioneers of Technical analysis took turns in what was considered by most of the guests to be a very heavy educational meal. Amongst the speakers was Guido Riolo who talked about some applications of Demark Lines. He was followed by Robin Griffiths who gave his global overview of  investment markets. Next was Sherman McClellan whose topic was " Patterns For Risk ".He was followed by Murray Gunn who explained Trading Regime Analysis.After Lunch, Ian McAvity showed up with his humorous character and talked about cyclical and secular trends in Gold,

Gold mining shares and other tangible asset sectors from the historical perspectives and future implications.Tom Dorsey then showed up with his Point and  figure methodology and tactical Portfolio management through positive relative strength identification.Next was the turn of Rashpal Sohan from India and he explained how to use quantitative techniques to reduce the subjectivity in technical analysis.After the Coffee break, Rolf Wetzer and Manfred Huebner from Germany discussed their behavioral treatment of the bond markets.Afterwards Rick Bensignor's session was very interesting when he talked about the cloud charts and revealed the true secret of Far Eastern Graph Analysis. Unexpectedly, the day was a bit longer than scheduled because Tom Dorsey thankfully cut 2 extra hours from his free time to give an extra session upon all guests requests to explain the technique of point and figure analysis into depth.That was really great of him ….


Day 4

That was the final day and it started early with Julian McCree with his topic " Trading with technicals – Finding the edge ".Followed by Jeff Hochman who talked about Technical analysis with a buy-side environment.Then came the famous Constance Brown known by " Connie Brown " who gave her point view about Oil and Global equity indexes into 2012.Also she gave her own support and resistance levels for many of the US index, many stock markets indexes, commodities and precious metals.After the coffee break, there was a very interesting panel discussion which was moderated by Ian Notley and the speakers were Tom Dorsey, Connie Brown, Robin Griffiths and Martin Pring.After Lunch, Jerry Butrimovitz talked about Financial psychology and a global prospective for the investment manager. Then James Montier's topic was " Apllies Behavioral Finance ".After the coffee break, there was the last 2 sessions.The first was for Julius DeKempenaer who had a new way to visualize relative strength.

And the Last session was for 2 of the ESTA members who presented few impressive new trading tools and new candlestick techniques, which was invented by Mahmoud Akl and presented by Karim El Tahawy and feedback on both was quite good.The Finale was by a great Gala Dinner in the Domina Coral Bay resort.Mrs. Elaine Knuth “IFTA Chairman” said her word and thanked ESTA for the organized and successful event and then Mr. Ayman Waked “ESTA Chairman” expressed his appreciation for the speakers and guests, and gave a pharaonic souvenir to the French Society President .
